Charles Cheriton, Director of Health & Safety, accepted into Asbestos Management Institute (AMI)

Econ Group are proud to announce that our valued director Charles Cheriton has been accepted to join the Asbestos Management institute, the UK’s leading professional body for asbestos management professionals.

What is the Asbestos Management Institute?

The AMI is the official institute representing experts in asbestos removal, analysis, consultancy, and management. Its mission is to uphold and promote best practice, technical competence, and ethical standards in asbestos management across the UK. Members benefit from a comprehensive Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme, industry-led events, policy forums, and professional recognition across an eight-tier membership structure ranging from Affiliate to Fellow.

Membership in AMI demonstrates a strong commitment to maintaining high standards in safety, regulation, and industry leadership. Full membership - such as that granted to Charles - also enables access to the AMI Skills Card, a CSCS-registered qualification demonstrating competence and compliance on worksites.

Why Charles’s Acceptance Matters

Charles brings extensive experience in asbestos consultancy, project oversight, estimating and stakeholder coordination. His selection for AMI membership recognises:

  • His technical competence and leadership in asbestos removal and site management.
  • His commitment to staying up-to-date through AMI’s CPD activities and industry events.
  • His adherence to rigorous standards of health, safety, and ethical practice.

"I'm delighted to have been accepted into the AMI, it demonstrates my competences in Asbestos Management and further shows Econ's continual efforts in providing the highest quality of service." - Charles Cheriton, Director of Health & Saftey.

What This Means for Econ Group

By supporting Charles’s AMI membership, Econ Group reaffirms our commitment to excellence in asbestos management and consultancy. As an AMI Full Member, Charles gains:

  • Access to cutting-edge guidance and best practice frameworks.
  • Networking opportunities with leading asbestos professionals.
  • Enhanced credibility when advising clients or conducting asbestos surveys, site remediations, and compliance assessments.

This development aligns strongly with Econ Group’s values and services in asbestos risk management, contaminated land remediation, and compliance-focused consultancy. This should further recognise Econ Group as a leader in the Asbestos Removal UK market and support our contiunall efforts in meeting client's needs and requirements for safe, effective and high quality services..

Orpington Maintenance Delivery Unit have been utilising Econ’s Services since the commencement of the new Environmental Services contract in October 2021. Since mobilisation Econ have provided our DU with a very efficient and professional service. The customer service and contract team are very friendly and approachable. I use the services of Econ primarily for Non-Emergency call outs which includes both general litter picking and fly tipping jobs as well as larger and more complex waste issues. Every job that I raise is acknowledged and responded to within a quick timescale. Following the completion of each job, I receive a signed completion certificate including photos and detailed commentary. Similarly the period payment reporting is issued on time with full back up information for ease of reference. This enables us to identify jobs and authorise payment quickly. I can strongly recommend the services of Econ who have improved the levels of service previously experienced and assisted our team with the resolution of a number of more difficult and costly cases on our patch.
