Enabling

Safety

Our five-stage approach gives our customers complete peace of mind
  1. Comprehensive surveys identify the exact location, extent and type of asbestos that needs to be managed or removed.
  2. Risk assessments. Our expert technicians can provide a full review of the severity and potential risk posed by the asbestos material on site. This leads to a detailed Risk Assessment and an accompanying method statement of how we will deal with the hazard.
  3. Because of the danger of airborne pollution, the asbestos is wet stripped and injected with a fibre suppressant to minimise dust and debris.
  4. Removing asbestos is undertaken under strict health and safety procedures and the material collected in UN approved packaging with CDG hazard signs and asbestos codes ready for safe transportation to a regulated disposal site.
  5. Once all asbestos has been removed our teams will conduct an air monitoring test across the area or site. The tests are conducted by independent, approved UKAS accredited analytical laboratories. At this point, the customer has complete peace of mind that the hazard has been removed and effectively disposed of prior to any construction or refurbishment works.

Asbestos is a dangerous substance that can easily become airborne, causing pollution, and potentially leading to serious health issues. To combat this, our Asbestos team works in strict accordance with our HSE issued Asbestos removal licence and the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012(CAR 2012).

The safety and training of our employees is fundamental to our continued success in this specialised area of hazardous waste removal. Our teams undertake regular and extensive training provided by the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association (ARCA) and UKATA approved training facilities. It is mandatory for their supervisors to have a minimum of five years’ experience in the safe removal of all types of asbestos.

Econ’s stringent working practices, training regimes, and outstanding safety record have ensured that we have always been granted the HSE's maximum three-year asbestos removal license. This license signifies our commitment to safety and quality, and our ability to provide a highly effective asbestos management service.

Econ’s Asbestos division can offer a full service, our highly skilled site operatives supported by one of the most modern fleets of plant and equipment currently on the market. All work is carried out to the highest standards with health and safety paramount and of course in accordance with our customer’s requirements.

Econ Group has always offered this service to core customers, but only over the last few years has this become ever more popular with taking brownfield sites and turning them into sites ready for future redevelopment.

"We found Econ to be talented and professional. We recently employed them to undertake some regeneration work to help us prepare for the building of our new Queen Elizabeth II Centre. Our experience of working with them was excellent. They were conscientious and efficient when working to a tight deadline and we have no hesitation recommending them for other projects."
